Shubhada Hooli, MD, MPH

Shubhada Hooli, MD, MPH, is a physician-scientist and pediatric emergency medicine specialist at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital. She provides emergency care for children and families in one of the nation’s busiest pediatric emergency departments and leads research to improve the diagnosis and management of acute respiratory illnesses.

As a National Institutes of Health–funded investigator, Hooli directs a research program on pulse oximetry accuracy and the development of predictive tools to strengthen pneumonia care in both U.S. and global settings. Her work informed revisions to World Health Organization pneumonia guidelines and continues to shape clinical standards for child health worldwide.

She has worked in partnership with health ministries in Malawi and Rwanda, and now leads multidisciplinary research teams in Houston and Cape Town, South Africa, dedicated to translating evidence into practice. She is deeply committed to advancing equitable access to high-quality care for children and families locally and worldwide.

A graduate of the University of Florida College of Medicine and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Hooli completed her pediatric residency at Children’s National Medical Center and subspecialty training in pediatric emergency medicine at Texas Children’s Hospital.
