**Overall Recommended Care: This measure is a weighted average of all of the process-of-care, or core measures, as reported by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The higher score is better.

Data Source:  WhyNotTheBest.org (The Commonwealth Fund), which includes publicly reported performance data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Web site, www.HospitalCompare.hhs.gov. The site provides performance data for nearly every U.S hospital; more than 4,500 institutions report data to Hospital Compare. CMS does not calculate a score for overall recommended care. However, WhyNotTheBest.org creates an overall quality composite that takes into account the 25 Hospital Quality Alliance process of care measures. In all instances, a weighted average is calculated.
