The research-approval process includes a rigorous review of each research protocol to protect the rights of patients and staff and ensure compensation to Harris Health for resource utilization.
All research to be conducted at/in conjunction with any Harris Health System facility must be approved by the president/chief executive officer prior to data collection or subject recruitment. Harris Health supports well-designed and properly executed research, and is committed to comply with federal regulations and maintain adequate processes for the protection of human subjects.
Harris Health System Research and Sponsored Programs is the office responsible for coordinating the administrative review of proposed research studies within Harris Health System and serves as a liaison between the system and investigators wishing to conduct studies within its facilities. Harris Health System Research and Sponsored Programs is the primary contact for the Federal Wide Assurance Institutional Review Boards.
