HCHD Gets Gold Seal of Approval from The Joint Commission

HOUSTON (June 9, 2009) – The Harris County Hospital District has received The Gold Seal of Approval for all its hospitals and community health centers from The Joint Commission, a nationally recognized accreditation agency ensuring that health care organizations meet high standards for patient safety, high-quality care, treatment and services.

HCHD earned full accreditation through February 2012.

“This achievement is testament to our commitment to all residents who use and depend on the Harris County Hospital District,” said David S. Lopez, HCHD president and CEO. “I want to acknowledge the hard work and dedication by each of our staff to ensure this accreditation was achieved. The recognition of quality bestowed by The Joint Commission is a positive reflection of the fine, caring, cooperative, hard-working and dedicated professionals who serve the health care needs of Harris County residents.”

The hospital district was commended for its programs and for the cooperation of its staff during the comprehensive review in February.
