With New Year’s around the corner, like every year many will resolve to lose weight. And we all know, when it comes to weight loss, there is no shortage of advice.
Dr. Ann Smith Barnes, medical director, Harris Health System’s Weight Management Services and Disease Prevention, offers tips as you start your weight loss journey.
The first step is about setting realistic goals and making small changes.
“While some people want to lose 100 pounds or fit in skinny jeans, that shouldn’t be their motivation,” she says. “Set practical goals like, ‘I want to be able to walk through the park with my granddaughter and not be out of breath.’ Your goal should be to get in a place with your weight that will allow you to do that.”
