TJ Tijerina, a banking executive from Tomball, has been appointed to the Harris County Hospital District Board of Managers by the Harris County Commissioners Court. Tijerina was sworn into office on Jan. 26 and replaces outgoing member Mary C. Spinks.
Commissioner R. Jack Cagle, Precinct 4, nominated Tijerina, who was unanimously approved by members of Harris County Commissioners Court during their Jan. 10 meeting.
“The Harris County Hospital District has a fine tradition of serving the citizens of our community. I intend to use my talents to help advance the noble mission of the hospital District,” Tijerina says. “I thank Commissioner Cagle for his confidence in me and look forward to working with the board and management team.”
Tijerina is senior vice president of branch operations for First Community Credit Union, a banking institution he’s been with since 2004. He is a 2003 graduate of Sam Houston State University and is a current board member of the Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce. He was chamber chairman of board in 2011 and is an active member of the Tomball Rotary Club.
The HCHD Board of Managers is a nine-member board appointed by the Harris County Commissioners Court. Each serves a two-year term and is reappointed at the court’s discretion.
Tijerina joins other members on the HCHD Board of Managers: Stephen H. DonCarlos, Lawrence D. Finder, Elvin Franklin Jr., Dr. George D. Santos, Daisy A. Stiner, Carolyn G. Truesdell, Dr. Atul Varadhachary and E. Dale Wortham.
