HOUSTON (March 10, 2011) — Lisa Whitaker has joined the Harris County Hospital District Foundation as its new executive director.
The Foundation is committed to raising funding as well as public support for programs and services that go above and beyond the scope of tax-supported care for the uninsured and the underinsured. The Foundation staff and board work jointly with the governing board of the hospital district in raising the consciousness of health welfare in the greater Houston community.
Whitaker previously served as relief director for the Bridge Foundation, operations coordinator for KBR in Iraq, and president and CEO, The Living Bank International.
“Healthcare is one of the most critical domestic issues of this young century,” Whitaker said. “Having been chosen to guide the Foundation’s efforts to assist our community by raising funds for the Hospital District is an honor and privilege.”
The Harris County Hospital District Foundation was chartered by the State of Texas on March 2, 1992, as a nonprofit corporation to operate a charitable, scientific and educational entity solely for the benefit of the Harris County Hospital District.
