Community Medicine

Harris Health System was one of the nation’s first healthcare systems to embrace the concept of neighborhood primary care, otherwise referred to as a medical home.

As a fully integrated healthcare system offering primary, secondary and acute care to patients, Harris Health provides residents with a primary care medical home in their neighborhood, with access to higher levels of care when needed. Harris Health offers residents of Harris County primary care through a coordinated network of:

• 16 community health centers,
•  School-based clinics,
•  Same-day clinics,
•  A dental program with seven locations, and
•  Five mobile health units

Each year, Harris Health offers patients access to medical homes in their communities staffed with first-class physicians from Baylor College of Medicine and The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth).
