Thomas Street’s prevention services provide outreach and medical care to individuals at risk of HIV, or who are in an intimate partnership with an individual living with HIV. The goal of prevention services is to reduce the transmission of HIV through our many prevention initiatives that include HIV testing, Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), and Non-occupational Post-exposure Prophylaxis (nPEP).

Our physicians from Baylor College of Medicine and McGovern Medical School at UTHealth have great expertise, experience and research-based knowledge in HIV care and prevention. Our physicians participate in world-renowned research and practice cutting-edge medicine, which makes Thomas Street a leader in the HIV field.

Meet our director
Dawn Jenkins, LCSW, is the administrator of Thomas Street Health Center and director of Ambulatory Care HIV Services for Harris Health System. She is a licensed clinical social worker with more than 30 years of experience in HIV care and prevention. Dawn keeps her finger on pulse of the community and works with her Harris Health team to fill gaps in care and meet the needs of the population served. “It’s about going beyond the doors of the hospital—it’s a community effort…reaching out to people where they’re at and getting them to where they need to be to achieve optimal health” she adds.
