Afsheen Davis, JD, MPH, is the vice president, Legal Operations and General Counsel for Texas Children’s Hospital. Originally from the Dallas area, she attended Texas A&M University for her undergraduate education and then obtained her law degree from the University of Houston Law Center along with a Master’s in Public Health from the UTHealth Houston School of Public Health. Davis began at Texas Children’s in 2011 as assistant general counsel for healthcare operations until 2013 when she was promoted to director of compliance, where she served for two years until she moved to San Antonio for family circumstances. Upon her return to Houston, she continued to develop her expertise in healthcare compliance, serving as senior legal officer, Compliance at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Davis moved back to Texas Children’s when she received the opportunity to serve as the director, Legal Department and deputy general counsel. Since then, she has been promoted to an expanded role of vice president, legal operations. In 2018, she was selected by the board of trustees and CEO as the Texas Children’s Catalyst Leader finalist, and in 2020 she was designated a “Woman Who Means Business” by the Houston Business Journal. In her role at Texas Children’s, she leads legal functions for the healthcare system of five entities and more than 16,000 workforce members.
