  1. What is an M/WBE?
    A Minority-or Women-owned Business Enterprise (M/WBE) is a business certified as a minority ownership or women-ownership (where 51% of the enterprise is operated and managed by a minority or women).

  2. What certifications do I need to become part of the program?
    We accept the City of Houston’s MBE and WBE certification, Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) certifications from the State of Texas, Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) certifications from the Texas Unified Certification Program and eight certifications from the U.S. Small Business Administration.

  3. How do I become a certified M/WBE?
    The Office of Business Opportunity is the central hub for local certifications, please visit the City of Houston’s website. For more resources regarding certifications related to Harris Health’s Contractor Diversity Program, please visit our resource center page for more information. 

  4. Where can I find new opportunities as a vendor?
    New opportunities for solicitations are posted in the Harris County Bonfire portal. Bonfire support is available here. Additionally, if you Connect with Us, we will notify you about opportunities that match your business profile. 

  5. Is there a cost associated with participating in the program?
    There is no cost to join our Contractor Diversity Program.
