Corrective Action Policy

Purpose: To establish guidelines for corrective actions for violations of law, Harris Health policy, performance, or conduct.
  • Harris Health promotes a Just and Accountable Culture:
    • Mistakes are addressed fairly, but reckless behavior or gross misconduct is not tolerated and are subject to corrective action.
  • Corrective Action may include:
    • Counseling
    • Performance Improvement Plan (PIP)
    • Probation (up to 90 days)
    • Corrective Suspension (unpaid, up to 5 days)
    • Demotion
    • Termination
  • Immediate Termination: This list is not all inclusive
    • Serious Misconduct
    • Criminal Acts
    • HIPAA Violations
    • Falsification of Records
  • Investigative Suspension: May be unpaid or paid (up to 5 days) during internal investigations.
  • Employee Responsibilities:
    • Report criminal charges (e.g., assault, theft, drug offenses) within 5 days.
  • Termination Review: Former employees may request review within 7 days (limited to reinstatement; no back pay).
  • Documentation: All corrective actions must be documented on official forms and placed in personnel files.
