Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in America, affecting more than 13 million people. In Texas, cardiovascular disease accounts for an astounding 40 percent of all deaths.

Harris Health provides the best and latest treatment options for cardiovascular patients. The cardiology departments at Ben Taub Hospital and Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital are accredited and nationally recognized programs.

Cardiac care at Ben Taub Hospital has received national high marks for staff's quick response time when dealing with patients suffering from one of the deadliest types of heart attacks. Ben Taub Hospital received national recognition for its treatment and care for heart attack and heart failure patients from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Harris Health also provides non-invasive assessments of heart disease using echocardiography techniques that deliver precise and accurate diagnoses. Both Ben Taub and LBJ hospital’s echocardiography labs are accredited by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission and perform at a high level.

Harris Health cardiology patients benefit from tried-and-tested treatments that include medical therapy, risk factor modifications and re-vascularization therapy using coronary angioplasty and bypass surgery. The Cardiac Catheterization Lab at Ben Taub was the first lab in greater Houston to become fully digitized, further enhancing the care provided to its patients.
