Harris Health Employee Nepotism Policy

Purpose: To outline Harris Health's Employee Nepotism Policy, which aims to prevent favoritism or the perception of favoritism by supervisors towards relatives or individuals residing in their household.
  • Household Member: Individuals sharing a common abode with the supervisor.
  • Relationship by Marriage: Includes spouses, common-law spouses, or relatives of a spouse.
  • Relationship by Blood: Includes direct descendants, shared ancestors, or legally adopted children treated as natural children.
  • No Supervisor may employ, promote, transfer, assign or supervise any Relative or Household Member.
  • No Supervisor may directly or indirectly use his or her position to secure the employment, promotion, transfer, or assignment of a Relative or Household Member.
  • If a supervisor becomes a Relative or Household Member with an employee that the Supervisor has the authority to hire, promote, transfer, or assign within his or her chain of command, the Supervisor and employee each must immediately notify his or her supervisor.
