Student Debt Program Policy

​Purpose: To delineate eligibility requirements for participation in Harris Health's Student Debt Program, and to provide the processes and procedures to be used in the administration of the program.
  • Eligibility:
    • Full-time or part-time regular employees in eligible RN or approved roles
    • Cannot be on a PIP.
  • Loan Eligibility:
    • Must be employee's or dependent's student loan for accredited degree programs
    • Excludes loans in default, loans not requiring payment, or loans in another person's name.
  • Lifetime Maximum:
    • $10,000 total benefit.
  • Payments:
    • $200 monthly until loan paid or max reached
    • Only one loan at a time.
  • Employee Responsibilities:
    • Enroll through service provider
    • Submit documents
    • Report loan status changes
    • Return overpayments
  • Leave Impact:
    • Benefit continues while on paid leave
    • Pauses during unpaid leave
