Drug Free Workplace Policy

Purpose: This policy outlines Harris Health's guidelines and practices with respect to creating and maintaining a drug-free workplace.

Harris Health maintains a drug- and alcohol-free workplace. The use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace presents a significant risk to employees and patients.
  • Employees may seek counseling and treatment for substance abuse problems through Harris Health's Employee Assistance Program or other treatment or rehabilitation programs.
  • Prohibited substances include:
    • Alcohol
    • THC/CBD
    • Illegal drugs
    • Volatile chemicals
    • Unauthorized prescriptions
  • Reasonable suspicion includes
    • Observable behavior
    • Signs of physical or mental impairment
    • Substance and/or paraphernalia 
    • Confirmed the test results.
  • Random drug testing applies to Safety Sensitive positions
  • Positive or refused tests will result in termination
