Employee Grievances Policy

Purpose: To set guidelines for addressing employee grievances.

This policy establishes a non-adversarial process for addressing Harris Health employee grievances.  In all cases, Harris Health encourages employees to work with their supervisors to resolve complaints informally before exercising the grievance process.
  • Grievable:
    • Employees may file grievances concerning wages
    • Scheduling of work hours
    • Working conditions
    • Misapplication of Harris Health policy
  • Non-grievable:
    • Complaints of discrimination or harassment (see policy 6.19)
    • Performance evaluations
    • Reductions in force or reorganizations
    • Promotion decisions
    • Corrective actions
    • Terminations (see policy 6.20)
  • Process:
    • Step 1: Submit grievance form to your supervisor within 7 calendar days
    • Step 2: If unresolved, escalate to the next level leader within 7 days
    • Step 3: If needed, a final review can be conducted by the head of HR– Employee Relations; decision is final.
  • Grievances must be submitted on the official Harris Health Grievance Form (#284627).
  • Retaliation against employees using the grievance process is strictly prohibited.
  • Records are maintained separately from personnel files.
