Introductory Period Policy
Introductory Period Policy
Purpose:
To establish guidelines for providing an assessment of a new employee at the time of initial hire or upon entry into a new job within Harris Health.
Initial Introductory Period:
The first 90 calendar days of employment.
Subsequent Introductory Period:
The first 90 days in a new job after a transfer/promotion/demotion.
Supervisor's Responsibilities:
Supervisor should complete departmental orientation and maintain documentation of the orientation.
Supervisors should provide regular feedback during the introductory period.
Attendance:
Attendance is vital to a successful orientation. Employees within their introductory period are subject to the following corrective action for unscheduled attendance infractions that are not excused by their supervisor.

PTO Usage:
Fulltime and Parttime employees with benefits accrue PTO daily upon employment. PTO may be used after completing 90 days of employment or when an observed holiday falls on a scheduled workday.
An employee who terminates after 90 days will have their PTO payout at 75% of the accrued time. There is no pay out if terminated before 90 days of employment.
