Dress and Personal Appearance Policy
Dress and Personal Appearance Policy
Purpose:
To provide the guiding principles for appropriate dress and grooming, supporting a professional healthcare environment and workplace.
General Hygiene:
Employees are expected to report to work clean and well-groomed; maintain clean hair and nails.
Jewelry is allowed if it does not interfere with work or infection prevention practices; excessive perfume/cologne discouraged.
Identification badge must be worn above the waist, clipped (no lanyards).
Clothing Standards:
Attire must be clean, wrinkle-free, and fit appropriately.
Acceptable attire: Business Professional, Business Casual, Harris Health Uniform, or Scrubs (as designated).
Undergarments must not be visible; midriffs should not be exposed.
Denim is allowed only on Fridays in non-patient care areas; never in patient care areas unless part of uniform.
Closed-toe shoes are required in patient care areas; flip-flops are prohibited at any location.
Departmental Guidelines:
Departments may set additional dress requirements with HR approval. References to job family specific dress requirements can be found in the policy.
