LBJ Hospital & Outpatient Center Volunteer Program

Volunteering at Harris Health System offers a unique opportunity to serve those most in need. If you are passionate about our mission to deliver high quality care, coordination of services and education, we would love to have you join our volunteer team at Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital and the Outpatient Center.

Current Opportunities
LBJ Hospital and Outpatient Center accepts adult volunteer applications year round. Prospective volunteers can apply for preference in the following job categories (some placement options may vary/or are seasonal).

  • Patient Experience: Roles providing customer service, concierge assistance and improvement of patient/visitor satisfaction. May include the information desk, greeters and visitor waiting rooms.
  • Clinical Support: Roles providing non-licensed support of patient needs. Volunteers do not provide direct patient care, but may assist with inpatient amenities, admission, discharge and follow-up calls. May include inpatient units or outpatient clinics.
  • Administrative: Roles providing clerical support for daily hospital operations. Volunteers may work in reception, providing phone/filing assistance, data entry or special projects.
  • Support Services: Roles providing assistance to operational support departments. Volunteers may assist with inter-office pick-up/delivery of supplies, restocking, food service or guest transportation.

What Can I Expect?
All volunteers are expected to commit to consistent weekly shifts of at least four hours for six consecutive months. We take great care to match your interests with an available opportunity. If you’re unable to make six-month commitment, you will be placed on our roster for short-term/special and seasonal projects.
