Jan Vincent

Jan Vincent has never met a stranger, especially with her magnetic personality. This jolly mom of two, affectionately known as “MeMa” to her seven grandchildren has a lot to live for, that’s why she turns to Acres Home Health Center for all her healthcare needs.

Jan is at the health center at least once a month.

“That’s what happens when you get up in age,” she chuckles. “But I’d rather be here than anywhere else. The doctors and staff take the time to discuss every concern I have—you should see the list of questions I have on my phone at every visit.”

Acres Home wasn’t Jan’s first encounter with Harris Health. Before she moved to the area, she lived in Spring and called Squatty Lyons Health Center her first medical home.

Making the move easier was the fact that her doctor also saw patients at Acres Home.

“I told her I was following her,” Jan says. “Although she’s no longer with Harris Health, I have a new sweetheart of a doctor who is patient and caring.”

Jan admits she doesn’t like taking medications, much to her doctor’s chagrin. However, through discussions and a little bit of prodding, Jan follows her doctor’s orders, especially when it comes to healthy eating. She loves to cook and try different recipes, which has helped improve her health.

“When I come to Acres Home, it feels like home,” she says. “I love the staff and visiting other patients in the waiting area.”

Jan will be spending even more time at the health center, but this time as a volunteer. She’ll be staffing the reception desk two days a week, helping patients navigate their way through the facility.

“Acres Home was an answered prayer,” she says. “When I moved, I wanted to live close to my doctor and have easy transportation—now I have both down the road from me.”
