Emergency Management

Harris Health's emergency management team employs an all-hazards approach to disaster preparedness. We strategically plan, mitigate, respond to, and recover from both natural and man-made disasters. Our goal is to maintain a comprehensive disaster preparedness program to ensure the safety of all Harris Health patients, guests, employees, affiliate students and physicians. This effort aligns with our organization's mission to improve the health of those most in need through quality care delivery. Please review the following 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season results and begin your preparations for potential winter weather.

Notable Results from 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season:

Total of 13 named storms, 5 hurricanes and 4 major hurricanes

Three category 5 storms — the second most on record

• Over $10.5 billion in damage, mostly outside the U.S.

• No hurricanes made landfall in the continental U.S.

Even in a quiet U.S. season, storms were powerful, reminding us why preparedness matters.

Looking ahead: NOAA predicts slightly above-average temperatures and less precipitation this winter. Still, it only takes one severe winter storm to cause disruptions.
