Louis Smith is senior executive vice president and chief operating officer (COO) at Harris Health System, assuming his position in May 2021. His career includes serving as president of Acute & Post-Acute Operations for Northeast Georgia Health System, and chief executive officer of Memorial Hermann Northeast Market in Houston. He began his healthcare career with Hamilton Health Care System in Dalton, Georgia, and was involved in integrating providers directly with employers to manage healthcare plans.
Smith’s accomplishments include the quality and financial turnaround of Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital, which received Press Ganey and Joint Commission/National Quality Forum recognitions. His work at Northeast Georgia received inclusion in U.S. News & World Report and Healthgrades top ranking in Georgia.
Smith holds a Master of Health Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University Medical College of Virginia and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Mississippi College. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
