Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Executive

Thomas Cummins, MD, MMM, joined Harris Health as its executive vice president and chief medical executive in November 2025. In this vital role, Cummins’ leadership is instrumental in shaping the future of care at Harris Health, as he provides the clinical leadership across our system to advance excellence in patient care, safety and quality, while also helping guide our evolution as a high reliability organization in collaboration with our community and academic partners.
With two decades of experience in clinical leadership, medical staff engagement and performance improvement, Cummins brings a deep commitment to ensuring that physicians and care teams are empowered to deliver the best possible outcomes for every patient.
Cummins most recently served as chief medical officer of Ascension St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He earned his medical degree from the University of Arkansas in Little Rock, AR, and completed a master’s in medical management at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA.
Cummins is a member of the American Association of Physician Leadership and American College of Physicians.
