Harris Health Extends Eligibility 90 Days for Patients Currently on Financial Assistance Plan

​HOUSTON (March 18, 2020) — Harris Health System is extending its financial assistance program plans 90 days for current patients who have been approved for financial assistance. This is in response to Coronavirus (COVID-19) conditions. This means a patient’s current plan expiration date will be extended 90 days during the following months:

  • March 2020 expiration dates will be extended to June 30, 2020
  • April 2020 expiration dates will be extended to July 31, 2020
  • May 2020 expiration dates will be extended to August 31, 2020

Patients should renew their assistance plans two weeks before their new expiration dates.

Due to temporary limited access to our eligibility centers as an added precaution to prevent transmission of Coronavirus, new patients who qualify for assistance and are in need of care will be screened for a 90 day temporary financial assistance plan at the time of their visit. Individuals seeking care will not be turned away due to financial assistance issues. These patients are asked to mail a completed application for financial assistance two weeks before their temporary expiration date ends.  Application packets and mailing address information can be found on the harrishealth.org website.

Harris Health eligibility staff continue processing financial assistance applications for residents of Harris County seeking access to Harris Health’s medical and healthcare services. Mailed-in applications typically represent more than 75% of all financial assistance applications received.
