Harris Health System Ranks Second in 2019 ‘Healthiest 100 Workplaces in America’

HOUSTON (Dec. 2, 2019) — Harris Health System ranks second among the Healthiest 100 Workplaces in America, a national award recognizing the best-of-the-best in worksite health.  The list was assembled from more than 1,000 employers in 45 U.S. cities — of which 72 percent of Fortune 100 companies participated.

This list, compiled by Springbuk®, culminates the company’s year-long wellness awards program, Healthiest Employers®. Each of the winning companies is considered an exemplary leader for the effectiveness of its population health and well-being initiatives. Among the companies sharing the spotlight with Harris Health include American Express, Baylor College of Medicine, Chevron Corporation, Fisher-Price and Kaiser Permanente.

“The Healthy@Harris Wellness Program is a significant piece of our culture that is nurtured around learning, evolving and striving for continuous improvement and excellence,” says George V. Masi, president and CEO, Harris Health System. “Health@Harris allows us to empower our employees to live with high energy, good health and passion to care for those in our community who need us most.”

The Healthiest 100 Workplaces in America were celebrated for their commitment to employee health and exceptional corporate wellness programming. More than 1,000 of America’s top well-being programs were evaluated for this award across the country. This year’s Healthiest 100 Workplaces winners include organizations as small as 32 full-time employees and as large as over 150,000 employees. They span nearly every industry, size, geography and include both privately held and publicly traded organizations.

“Improving the community’s health starts within the organization,” says Michele Hunnicutt, director, Employee Wellness & EAP. “We’re proud to provide results-driven, comprehensive wellness programs and resources that benefit our employees and organization.”

Harris Health was evaluated across six categories: Culture and Leadership Commitment, Foundational Components, Strategic Planning, Marketing and Communications, Programming and Interventions, and lastly, Reporting and Analytics. Applicants were evaluated with the proprietary Healthiest Employers® Index, a 1-100 rubric for wellness programming. These organizations have achieved lasting success through a wide array of employee wellness initiatives and corporate wellness programs.

“Each year, our team is encouraged by the innovative spirit for companies to advocate on behalf of their most important asset – their people,” said Phil Daniels, co-founder, Springbuk and Healthiest Employers. “The winners of the Healthiest 100 award demonstrate this commitment in unprecedented fashion with their programming, executive support, and data-centric approach. Each company should be proud of their proactive efforts to sustain a healthy, lasting workforce.”
