Harris Health’s Chief Information Security Officer Listed among 100 Global Best

HOUSTON (Oct. 13, 2020) — Jeffrey M. Vinson Sr., vice president and chief information security officer for Harris Health System has been named among the top 100 Global Chief Information Security Officers by HotTopics and Forcepoint, a multinational software corporation based in Texas. The list showcases global cybersecurity leaders who work to protect businesses from cyberattacks and data breaches.

“To be recognized alongside these major global organizations when Harris Health System is not a global organization speaks volumes about our information security leadership, our cybersecurity program and the value it gives our patients and employees,” Vinson says.

These information security leaders were selected because of their efforts to:

  • Implement radical change under a digital transformation as society pivots to remote working
  • Build a security strategy that mitigates risk and maximizes business performance
  • Champion educational programs and technological change internally to all staff
  • Represent their companies on current and future state cybersecurity topics

“This recognition highlights that Harris Health’s cybersecurity programs continue to evolve as the threats evolve, which is extremely important to protecting the organization from cyberattack and threats like ransomware,” Vinson says. “To be able to represent the organization on the national level for cybersecurity in 2015 and now on the global level in 2020 during this pandemic is a surreal feeling and I am proud to represent Harris Health System and the Texas Medical Center in Houston.”

Vinson is a retired military officer and a former technical director at National Security Agency (NSA) and has more than 25 years of information security experience in military, federal government, financial services and healthcare. He is a member of the International Council of Electronic Commerce Consultants (EC-Council) and was one of the organization’s first speakers at its inaugural global CISO executive summits.

Vinson joins an impressive list of global information security leaders from companies like Goldman Sachs, Coca-Cola, General Motors, United Airlines, Avon, Eli Lilly and Visa.
