Cancer patients, survivors and caregivers are invited to participate in many free educational and support programs available at Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital and Smith Clinic.
- Oncology Patient Orientation – provides patients with an overview of what to expect during cancer treatment, available support services and available community resources
- Education – provides literature and health education resources on cancer and treatment-related topics
- Navigation – assists patients and caregivers in accessing Harris Health’s programs and support services
- Financial Resources – refers patients to available community resources for temporary financial assistance with transportation, treatment and living expenses
- Cancer Support Group – patients, survivors and caregivers share their experience and support each other through art therapy
- Community Resources – refers patients to non-profit organizations for support with their diagnosis and treatment
- Support Items – offers donated items such as scarves, hats, wigs, bandanas, blankets and breast prostheses to patients to ease their pain and increase self-esteem as they struggle with the side effects of cancer
- Cancer Awareness – promotes cancer awareness, prevention and early detection to the community
