Pharmacy Services

At Harris Health System, the Department of Pharmacy plays a key role in the healthcare of Harris County residents. Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians are key members of our patients' healthcare team, working closely with patients, physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals to provide optimal drug therapy.

Only prescriptions written by a Harris Health physician may be filled at one of our system pharmacies. Depending on your insurance carrier or Harris Health plan, there may be a small co-pay.

You can re-order certain prescription medications by calling your pharmacy's refill line. Patients can also sign up for Medication Home Delivery.

Harris Health operates 16 outpatient pharmacies located inside healthcare centers and specialty clinics, where our clinical pharmacy specialists manage a variety of disease states, including diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, asthma/COPD, heart failure, anticoagulation therapy and HIV/AIDS care. In our hospitals, clinical pharmacy specialists also provide pharmaceutical care in emergency medicine, critical care, infectious diseases, general medicine, oncology, pediatrics and neonatal intensive care.
