Cancer Care

Harris Health's multidisciplinary approach to cancer care provides optimal treatment for each of our patients. To ensure the best care possible, we bring together specialists, each with expertise in specific cancers, as well as other clinical staff involved in your treatment, and put their collective knowledge, skills and experience to work for you.

As a patient, your care team may include a medical oncologist, surgeon, radiation oncologist, nurse, genetics counselor, pathologist, nutritionist, interventional radiologist and other providers all focused on you and your specific needs. This meeting of the minds provides each patient with a personalized care plan designed for the most successful outcome.

Our approach emphasizes open communication, collaborating with each other personally and through our award winning Electronic Medical Records system.

Through its collaboration with Baylor College of Medicine, The University of Texas Medical School at Houston (UTHealth) and The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, patients at Ben Taub Hospital and Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital have access to an array of cutting-edge clinical trials.

LBJ and Smith Clinic have Cancer Resource Centers that are open to anyone needing assistance with issues associated with cancer. The centers provide support, education, guidance and assistance to patients.

Harris Health System's Cancer Care Program received a three-year accreditation with commendation from the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons.
